What we set

A session cookie, so the site knows it is still you as you move between pages. Without it you could not stay signed in. It expires when your session ends.

A security token that protects forms from being submitted by another site on your behalf. It lasts as long as the session does.

Your language choice, so the site stays in Arabic or English as you picked it.

A visit cookie, so that a search, a listing you opened and an enquiry you sent read as one visit rather than four strangers. It holds a random number and nothing else — no name, no email, no address — and it expires when your browser closes.

All four are necessary for the site to work or to keep it working well. There is nothing here you could switch off and still have a working site.

What the visit cookie records

What was searched for, which listings were opened, and whether an enquiry was sent. It is stored on Makanak’s own servers, in Egypt, and is never sold, shared or sent to another company.

It is deliberately coarse. There is no IP address, no exact location, and nothing that identifies a person — if you send an enquiry, your name and number are attached to that enquiry, which is the only place they are ever kept.

What we do not set

No advertising cookies. Nothing that follows you to other websites. Nothing that builds a profile of you.

No third-party analytics. Nothing about your visit leaves Makanak’s own servers.

Turning them off

Your browser can block or delete cookies, usually under privacy or site settings. Blocking the session cookie will stop you signing in, but browsing and searching will still work — no account is needed for either.
